Kathleen Lake, YT
Written by Dustin Manley
Nestled in the southwestern corner of the Yukon is Kathleen Lake, whose breathtaking glacial vistas and hyaline waters are arguably superior to that of Lake Louise. Nothing quite compares to the Yukon Wilderness. During my two-hour drive from Whitehorse, I could count the number of cars I passed on one hand. The otherworldly sense of calmness and serenity given by Kathleen Lake disguises the feral nature of the land. My hike through the lower part of the King’s Trail had me following in the pawprints of bears, and I had only a bear bell and mace for protection if I stumbled upon them.
